The Nanny Dog

The Newfoundland dog is known generally as a gentle giant. They have a very sweet and calm temperament that makes them a very good family dog, especially a family with children. The Newfoundland is also known as the "nanny dog" because they are exceptional with children as well as with their own puppies. Just like the Golden Retriever, Newfoundlands are a water loving breed, and because of that they have officially made it to my "Must have" list. I love a dog who can enjoy the beach. Rover

I finally got my new puppy, he's everything I expected...and more. Oh yeah, he's a handful. Knowing that Presley loves him is a great relief, I love watching them play and just enjoying each others company. Presley finally has a little brother to take care of and play with. Rover barely turned two months old and is a very healthy Golden Retriever Puppy. I had forgotten how much I need to guard my shoes when a puppy is around, I could never be mad at my dogs though. They are total sweethearts, and will love me no matter what, so I return the favor at all times.

Golden Retrievers are the friendliest breed around. They make the perfect family pet because they are extremely lovable and easy to train. They are also water dogs, so this is a dog that enjoys the dog beach to the fullest. I'm definitely looking forward to that. One of Presley's secrets: he hates the water. So if you're searching for a new pup, look into getting a golden puppy, they're very intelligent. Oh, and don't forget, German pups are smart too.

Thank Dog!

Bringing home a new puppy is always exciting. But as a pet owner, you have to ask yourself the following questions:
  • Can I provide food, shelter, and health services?
  • Will my current pets welcome a new pet?
  • Will the children in the household be caring, and get along with the pet?
These are all question that we must ask ourselves before getting any type of pet. I will be getting a golden retriever puppy, and have already checked off all of the questions above. I am very excited, it's like bringing home a new baby. Of course, I don't have any children so I am only assuming it must feel like that.

Something else I wanted to share with you was a website I discovered:
thankdogbootcamp.com

It's a work our system that allows you to get in shape and train your dog at the same time! Sounds terrific to me. I'll heading there as soon as I have the time, and money for it. You guys should definitely check it out, it is very interesting.

Til next time darlings, and remember, your pup will always be loyal and care for you no matter what, so love 'em back.

Don't Judge a Dog by its Bark

It’s been such a long time since my last blog, I truly apologize for that. I’d like to tell you all that I finally moved to a pet-friendly home. Yay! It’s been horrible without any Internet access, I hate to admit it.

I definitely love my new place. My dog, Presley, is free to run in the yard without having any issue and it’s the best feeling after having him tied up for a long time. I enjoy watching him run free, and seeing how happy he is makes be forget about all the bad things in the world.

Presley seems to be scared of the dogs that live in front of our house. Then again, who wouldn’t? They’re pit bulls. Putting aside all of the myths and stereotypes that follow pit bulls, we must admit that their physical appearance is very intimidating. Their sharp teeth, muscular body tone and size does not really help people forget stereotypes. I do agree with other people when they say that it depends on how the dog is raised and treated. But we must be cautious because if we encounter one on the streets we wouldn’t know whether they are friendly or violent. Remember that there is a specific reason why they have such a reputation. No matter how confident you are with animals, or what breed and species it may be, always be aware that they can attack.

Some tips:
  • Never run away from a dog that may be about to attack
  • If a dog goes for the bite, go down on the ground, and cover your head
  • Once you are out of danger walk away from the dog, very slowly
Now remember, I'm not a professional dog trainer, groomer, veterinarian, or genius. Everything you read here is strictly from my own experience and knowledge that I have gained so that I can pass on to you. Thanks for sticking around, til next time my friends.

Kids & Dogs

I finally got the answer to my rental application...DECLINED! The search continues. Speaking of renting, I have new neighbors next door, they have two kids around age five. Seeing the bond between kids and dogs is a great experience, it reminds me of how beautiful life can be. My dog, Presley, is already in love with them. He used to bark at them at first, since they were just strangers to him. But now that they share their dinner with him, he loves them. I caught them throwing pieces of bread over the fence, and as much as I wanted to tell them to stop (Presley has stomach problems) I was too caught up in the moment. Here are these two kids, that do not even know Presley, and they show no fear towards a dog that is almost 100lbs. It's amazing, I see adults who are terrified of him when we walk down the sidewalk, but kids, they know. They see the kind heart he has, and they know he won't hurt them. Children and pets are the biggest gift that life gives us, at least for me. What do you think?

Of course, there are always dogs that do not like children. Like my little Roxy, she cannot stand children. They make her nervous. Always make sure you have your pets in control at all times, especially when children are present. I hope you all had a Merry Christmas. Enjoy the holidays with your family and with your loyal friends...dogs.

Good News!!!

How's everyone doing this week? Hope you're not having a horrible holiday shopping experience like I am. I could not believe it, the mall was packed on Monday morning.

Anyway, I have great news everyone!
As you may already know, I need to move out quickly to a pet-friendly home. My search has finally come to an end, for now. All I have to do is send in my rental application and voila! Let's just hope it gets approved. I completely fell in love with that home, it is perfect. My dogs will have the space they need as well. Things are looking pretty good for me, right now.

I'd like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope you spend these holidays with the people you love and your beloved pets.

My Angel

Several times in life things do not always go the way you have planned them to be. There's is always an obstacle or set back to achieve happiness. But when we finally overcome them, it's the best feeling in the world, and you always have people that love you right by your side to make it all better.

If not people, it would be your best friend, your loyal companion...your dog.

Your dog loves you no matter who you are, or what you are. Knowing that is a great relief. Even though you might get home on a really horrible day, feeling like the biggest loser ever, the dog will always put a smile on your face. Who won't let you down. You can't say that about many people out there.

I am very loyal to my dog, and he is to me. On a long day, when I work Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. (I work two jobs)I get home from work completely exhausted, and yet I still manage to find time for my dog, feed him, pet him, love him. We are completely attached to each other, we'd die without one another. He truly makes me forget about all the problems in life. When we are together it's like I travel to a world of zen, where there are no troubles to worry about. He is my angel.

Unfortunately, I am being kicked out of my house by the landlady because I won't get rid of him. Getting rid of him is definitely not an option. Finding affordable, dog-friendly homes is nearly close to impossible these days. But I will not give up. I will not give up on my angel when he has given so much happiness to my life. This is simply another minor set back, a bump on the road, that my loyal friend and I will once again overcome, together.
